Nothing at all when you turn the key
No crank, no dashboard, no interior light, or everything very dim. That is almost always the battery, a loose or corroded terminal, or a failed main earth.
Open the bonnet and look at the terminals. If there is white or blue-green powder around them, or the clamp moves when you push it, that alone can stop a car starting. Clean connections and a tight clamp cost nothing to check.
It turns over slowly and then gives up
Classic tired battery, especially on the first cold morning of the year. A battery loses cranking ability as it ages and the cold makes the engine harder to turn at the same time.
A jump start will get you going. It will not tell you whether the battery will survive another week, which is what the test is for.
It turns over normally but will not fire
The battery is doing its job. The problem is fuel, spark or an immobiliser. A new battery will not help, and anyone who sells you one without testing first is guessing.
It starts on a jump, then dies again
Two possibilities. Either the battery can no longer hold a charge, or the alternator is not putting one back. Our test covers the charging system as well as the battery, so you are not replacing the wrong part.

Which NOVAX® fits your car?
Read the code off the top or side of your current battery — three digits, sometimes with letters after them, like 628 or 646.
NOVAX® is fitted and warranted through Global Batteries Xpress and authorised resellers. Find your nearest outlet — they confirm the size against the car before anything is fitted.
Where to go
NOVAX® is tested, fitted and warranted at Global Batteries Xpress outlets and at resellers we have appointed in writing. The test is free whether you buy anything or not.
